Our company had the opportunity to preserved many Greene and Greene projects in South Pasadena, Ca. The list includes
Greene & Greene the Gamble House Museum, the Blacker House, the J. A. Reeves House and the Culbertson House, over a 13 year period. I headed the first team to ever start comprehensive woodwork preservation back in 1979. As for example, when I was lucky enough to be commissioned to preserve and restore the teak front door system. After inspection, the teak was in very poor condition. The teak had been severely stained with dark spots and streaks mostly from the weather, gardeners and runoff from the solid brass screens used on the side screen doors.
